Meet Balto

People's Choice Finalist

Meet Balto

Breed: Japanese Spitz

Barking from: Auckland

What's up dog?

When Balto was a few weeks old, he was the first to know I was pregnant and would sit by the foot of the bed keeping watch to make sure baby and I were protected and safe. He would listen to her kicks in the womb and rest by me during the nausea mornings. When we got some rough news frok the doctor about our baby, he cheered us up with his happy attitude and cuddled his dad and I and helped us get through our tough days. He was also the only one to know I was in labour before I even did. A little while ago this courageous boi alerted us to smoke in our neighbours house, which prompted us to call the fire brigade and save her house from burning down. We now classify him as an honorary firedog. He is genuinely a blessing in our lives.
Otherwise, Balto spends his days rolling around in dirt (and sometimes poop), waiting for dad to come home, sniffs his baby sister's bum and alerts us to dookies, avoids his food at all costs so he can get the good ol chicken and rice and loves long walks.
